Ty Bracey exclusive: ‘Absolutely nothing negative’ from Unai Emery Aston Villa start

We’re delighted to welcome Villa View host Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

The start of the Unai Emery era at Aston Villa is yet to throw up any negative developments in the eyes of Ty Bracey who is very happy with what he’s seen.

The Spanish coach oversaw a rousing 3-1 victory over Manchester United on 6 November, only five days after he was officially appointed as the permanent successor to Steven Gerrard, before securing a second successive Premier League win at Brighton a week later.

Although Villa were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford between the two victories and are now off for six weeks while the World Cup takes place in Qatar, Bracey is highly encouraged by the early signs and so far hasn’t seen anything to dampen his outlook.

He exclusively told Villa News of how Emery has gone about things: “He’s given everybody an opportunity. I think a lot of the squad he could use he’s used.

“Everyone except one or two has had a good run of minutes.

“There’s nothing negative for me. To have two wins from two in the league, one against Man United and one against Brighton away, they’re not easy fixtures.

“Brighton are playing some good football at the minute, so I take absolutely nothing negative from that at all.”

Plenty of fans would like a cup run, but given the start to the season and the misery they went through with Steven Gerrard in charge the majority will accept being out of the Carabao Cup if it means the manager gets a better idea of his squad moving forward.

The ex-Arsenal boss has shown he can get a tune out of his first choice players, and Robin Olsen’s nightmare performance in the lone defeat was the kind of thing that Emery needed to know about in order to make future plans.

Everyone connected to the club will be hoping that with a solid amount of time on the training ground before the club is back in action, and some support in the January transfer window, the new man can start to build something special at Villa Park.
