Alan Hutton: Aston Villa could add two or three new faces in January
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park.
Alan Hutton doesn’t see why Aston Villa won’t back Unai Emery in the upcoming January transfer window after the club previously supported Steven Gerrard.
Villa spent big money on the likes of Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara in the summer with the board looking to utilise the Jack Grealish transfer fee.
Hutton believes two or three new faces could well come through the door in January but admitted there may have to be departures as well.

“I mean they’ve backed the other manager who was there so I don’t see why not,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.
“That was offset with a lot of the Jack Grealish money but I think if he wants one, two or three players through the door they will back him. They have got a decent size squad at the moment so depending on the area he wants to improve they may have to let one or two leave the club as well.”

The World Cup break has come at a perfect time for Emery to assess what he needs to add heading into the January window, with another attacker, midfielder and potentially another full-back still required at Villa Park.
Emery will also be hoping for some of his injured players to make further progress whilst the Premier League comes to a halt, with Villa’s campaign restarting on the 26 December against Liverpool.
Villa make the trip to Brighton on Sunday (13 November) to face Brighton in their final match before the international break.
