Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne could still make France squad – report
Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne could reportedly be drafted into the France World Cup 2022 squad.
According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps could make a late call to include the free-kick goal scorer v Manchester United.
Digne has been an ever-present cog in the Villa machine since he left Everton in January 2022.

Must go
Digne has the experience and the skills needed to play in the biggest competition of them and all and he deserves to go.
Whether or not Deschamps plays him regularly is his call, but it will be a travesty if he does not include the 29-year-old.
Not only is Digne exceptional going forward, but he’s also very good at set pieces and could become their corner and free kick taker from wherever the angles favour a left footer.
He’s hard working and seldom gets caught of possession despite playing in such an attacking position.
France are expected to dominate possession and the system is perfect for him to thrive as he can hug the touchline while the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann can do what they do best – find a way to score goals.
If Digne doesn’t play much, it won’t be the end of the world either as he’ll avoid any injuries and come back post the World Cup fresh and ready to go.
In other Aston Villa news, Tim Sherwood has made a prediction about whether or not Unai Emery will be a success at Villa Park.
