Alan Hutton: Referee right to not send off Tyrone Mings in Aston Villa win v Manchester United
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park.
Alan Hutton believes referee Anthony Taylor made the right decision not to send off Tyrone Mings or Cristiano Ronaldo in Aston Villa’s 3-1 win over Manchester United.
The pair clashed in the second half of the game in an off-the-ball incident, with there being calls for both players to be dismissed.
However, Hutton feels the incident was fairly innocuous, with a yellow card each being the suitable punishment for the pair.

“I was just laughing at it if I am totally honest,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.
“I know Tyrone well and he likes the rough-and-tumble side of the game and I was laughing when I saw it happening.
“I think it was the right decision from the official, there was nothing in it, and there were no punches, it was just a bit of a Wrestling match. Yellow card for both then get on with the game.”

Ronaldo and Mings will be going head-to-head again on Thursday evening (10 November) as Villa travel to Old Trafford to face United in the third round of the League Cup.
The Villans will be hoping for another man-of-the-match performance from Jacob Ramsey, who was in unplayable form at Villa Park on Sunday (6 November).
Unai Emery’s team then face a trip to the South Coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion in their final fixture before the World Cup break.
