Emiliano Martinez bids farewell to soon-to-depart Aston Villa goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler

Emiliano Martinez has bid farewell to soon-to-depart Aston Villa goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler with Unai Emery likely to make backroom changes.

The Villa number one has worked closely with Cutler since joining the club and has penned an emotional goodbye to him.

This post should all but confirm the goalkeeping coach’s exit with Emery set to take charge of the next game.

Martinez took to Instagram to write, “I can’t thank you enough for the way you helped me since day one
Not just a gk coach to me you became my friend, unfortunately, football isn’t fair sometimes but I’m sure you will find the right club for you. Best English coach by miles.”

End of an era

Martinez certainly has plenty to thank him about as he’s helped him develop his all-round game.

The Villa keeper joined from Arsenal without being a long-term first-choice keeper and it surely would’ve been a daunting prospect to take over the reins at the club.

However, Martinez has taken to life in Birmingham like fish to water and has been one of the most consistent players for the club since.

Now, with Unai Emery joining, it is a new era and the Spaniard will want to bring in his own backroom staff to Villa Park with him.

Fans certainly had grown fond of Cutler but know that coaches do end up leaving when there’s a change of head coach and we wish him the best of luck for wherever he moves to next.

There’s no doubt that a top job awaits him at some time in the future and it remains to be seen how good Emery and his lieutenants are.

In other Aston Villa news, Tim Sherwood has made a prediction about whether or not Unai Emery will be a success at Villa Park.
