Aston Villa to announce backroom appointments on Tuesday – report

Aston Villa are set to announce Unai Emery’s backroom staff on Tuesday (1 November) when he officially takes charge, according to Birmingham Live.

The former Villareal boss was bought out of his deal with the La Liga side to become the new Villans boss and is all set to bring over some of his team from Spain to Villa Park.

Pako Ayesteran, a former Liverpool coach, is going to become Emery’s assistant manager after Neil Ctrichley left along with Steven Gerrard and other coaches prior to Emery being hired.

Javi Garcia has been tipped to become the new goalkeeper coach at Bodymoor although he could have to wait to work with Emiliano Martinez after he came off concussed against Newcastle United.

Pablo Villanueva, Victor Manas and Jaime Arias are also touted to make the move from Villareal to Aston Villa with the latter only 23 years of age but highly rated by Emery.

All in

This is a sign that Aston Villa are fully invested in the Spanish manager and what he could go on to do at the club and are willing to spend the necessary cash to bring his team with him to the Premier League.

Emery has won trophies almost everywhere he has been as a manager and specialises in the Europa League having won the competition with both Sevilla and Villareal.

His previous stint in the English leagues came at The Emirates where he attempted to bring the good times back to Arsenal, only to be sacked in favour of Mikel Arteta who is now succeeding in what he tried to do.

There is not much time for the boss to work out what he wants from this side with only a couple of games to go before the World Cup break.

Early wins are vital as Aston Villa try to avoid getting dragged further into a relegation scrap.

In other Aston Villa news, it was a turbulent start to the 2022-23 season for this Villan but he has used his experience to overcome the problems.
