Thomas Tuchel turns down Aston Villa job after negotiations in recent days – report

Thomas Tuchel has reportedly not been moved by the efforts from the Aston Villa hierarchy to hire him as their manager.

According to French media outlet L’Equipe on 24 October, the Villans tried to convince him to join in recent days but he has shown no interest despite an ambitious financial proposal.

Villa will now continue their search as they’re looking to appoint a permanent manager after sacking Steven Gerrard.

Emery return?

All signs are now pointing towards Unai Emery returning to the Premier League after a topsy-turvy stint at Arsenal.

He has proven his credentials at PSG, Sevilla and Villarreal and should be the ideal manager to take Villa into Europe and make them a top eight club.

Tuchel and Pochettino were always going to be quite tough to persuade given their recent managerial successes at Champions League clubs.

Emery’s stock has taken a bit of a hit and he could be pursued to move to Villa as they would give him a decent salary and also a good kitty to strengthen this squad.

His style of football may not be too eye-pleasing, but he’s known to get the job done and improve players along the way.

This Villa squad is in desperate need of someone to help take them to the next level and we believe that Emery would be the right appointment.

In other Aston Villa news, Tim Sherwood has made a prediction about whether or not Unai Emery will be a success at Villa Park.
