Aston Villa want to sign Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Michael Cooper
Aston Villa are reportedly keeping tabs on Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Mike Cooper who’s been in good form for the League One side.
According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon on 13 October, he is expected to be a long-term option for the Villans as he’s still only 23.
Emiliano Martinez is the undisputed number one at Villa Park so Cooper’s arrival is unlikely to unsettle him.

Worth a punt
It’s always good to plan for the longer term and if he plays a few years as Martinez’s understudy along with reserve football.
He got the Golden Glove award last season as well so he’s probably on the right track to take the step up.
However, Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher is not keen on letting him leave and said that’ll be amazed if he quits in January.
He even namedropped Villa on 13 October and said that they may even have scouted him over a potential move.
He told the BBC, “I’m not surprised if Aston Villa are interested or they send scouts to watch him, because that’s what people do.”
If that is the case, it’s good to see the Aston Villa employees doing their due diligence before making a move.
He also is unlikely to cost too much as he’s in the third tier of English football and would love the chance to make the jump to the Premier League.
