Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard admits the pressure is on in clash against Nottingham Forest

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has admitted that the pressure is on them in their Monday (10 October) night clash against Nottingham Forest.

Villa come into the game unbeaten in three games, whilst Forest have won just one of their opening eight Premier League battles.

Gerrard confessed he’s “very much aware” of the pressure surrounding his job at Aston Villa but sees the noise as no problem.

“If you don’t get results fans demand and want, in this day and age, you are going to get reactions,” said Gerrard as quoted by the Express and Star.

“Noise? Pressure? No problem. I’m very much aware of it and I am definitely no mug. I don’t hide under a rock or put myself in a shell. I puff my chest out. I accept every bit of it.

“I’ll accept it and I’ll keep doing everything I can to change that around for a better reaction. Am I confident I can do that? Yeah. I back myself that I can drive this team up the League and that’s what I plan on doing.”

Bad look.

Gerrard’s positive outlook on recent speculation surrounding his future is good to see but Villa really need to get out of this boring style of football they’re playing.

The overall defensive tactics have got Villa some points and have them on a three-game unbeaten streak but they couldn’t look less like scoring.

Ollie Watkins is forever isolated up top on his own and Gerrard needs to utilise the creativity that sits behind him, it would be much more rewarding for the Villans.

It’s all well and good picking up one point here and there, but fans want to see the team winning and playing football they can be proud of.

Hopefully, the game against Forest will be the perfect chance to get that goal tally up, they’re struggling and down bad and Villa need to capitalise on this.

It would be a bad look for Gerrard if he fails to get anything other than the three points on Monday evening.

In other Aston Villa news, Mauricio Pochettino would be an attractive proposition for the club’s owners.
