Aston Villa officials meet with supporters to discuss new crest designs – report

Aston Villa officials reportedly met with the fans on Monday, 3 October, to discuss potential designs for the new club crest.

According to Birmingham Live, three designs were put forward to the fans and those will be brought down to two before the fans can cast their vote on the final one.

The three designs were: i) A badge similar to the 1982 crest; ii) A Gas Lamp-inspired crest which is shaped like a shield; iii) A lion that faces on the opposite side as it does now.

Good move

Modern clubs are criticised for not being in touch with the needs of the fans and it’s good to see Villa taking a step in the direction to keep cordial relationships.

Changing the crest of a club is a big move and it’s certainly not likely to be a unanimous agreement.

Fans tend to attach themselves to a particular aspect of a club and want that to be a part of the crest.

It’s good to see that three options are being realistically considered and all three appear to have their merits.

The constant communication between the club and their supporters is very important and long may it continue.

Regardless of which logo they finally settle on, the fans are going to proudly wear jerseys with it and wave their red flags at Villa Park.

As of now, fans are concerned about the first team and Steven Gerrard does not appear to be a popular figure among them.
