Ty Bracey disappointed by Aston Villa failure to break down 10-man Leeds United

We’re delighted to welcome Villa View host Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Ty Bracey was disappointed in the performance as Aston Villa were unable to break down a 10-man Leeds United side on Sunday (2 October).

Luis Sinisterra was shown a second yellow card early after the break, but poor finishing saw the game end goalless all the same.

Although the result made it three games unbeaten for Steven Gerrard’s side Bracey feels that is deceptive when the performances are so difficult to enjoy and the rare victories over recent months have only come against lowly teams, so sees little to be encouraged by.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News he said: “It was disappointing really. We were playing against a team with 10 men for 45 minutes and we couldn’t finish our chances.

“There were some chances, but Ollie [Watkins] didn’t have his shooting boots on.

“It was just a really tough game to watch, and everything just didn’t seem to be going our way as usual.

“It looks great on paper [three games unbeaten] but realistically we’re not playing attractive football, it’s not fun to watch, it’s rough.

“We’ve only won five of our last 20 Premier League games and it’s been against 12th, 15th, 16th, 20th and 16th.

“So it’s not good, it’s not good at all.”

While a point at this stage is always welcome it is difficult to see how this sort of play is sustainable for the rest of the run up to the World Cup.

It might be enough against a team struggling as much as Nottingham Forest are for the next fixture (10 October), but even so it is making the season somewhat of an ordeal for the fans.

Perhaps once Steven Gerrard adapts the team to the recent injuries something better will develop but hopes aren’t exactly sky high for that right now.

In other Aston Villa news, Philippe Coutinho has been accused of not caring after the goalless draw.
