Alan Hutton: Jacob Ramsey will see goals flow for Aston Villa
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…
Alan Hutton feels the goals and assists will start to flow to Jacob Ramsey after the 21-year-old got off the mark for Aston Villa in their 1-0 win over Southampton.
Ramsey was in good goalscoring form in the 2021/22 season netting six Premier League goals for Steven Gerrard’s side and managing one assist.
Despite a slow start on the goalscoring front this season, Hutton feels that the midfielder will see his tally increase this season under the stewardship of Gerrard.
“I think he’s done well since he’s come into the first team, he’s gone from a young boy breaking into the team to now a mainstay and one of the first names on the team sheet,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.
“To have someone like Steven Gerrard to learn from day in and day out is only going to make him a better player and for me, you can see physically he’s getting better, he’s getting strong and he can run all day.
“Everyone wants to add numbers to their game and I am sure that will come with what we’re seeing at the moment.”

Ramsey is currently away with England’s under-21s and featured in their 2-0 win over Italy on Thursday (22 September).
The 21-year-old will be looking forward to Villa’s next Premier League fixture at Leeds United where he scored twice in a 3-0 victory in the 2021/22 season.
