Aston Villa have 10th youngest side in Premier League
Aston Villa have the 10th youngest side in the Premier League with an average age of 26.9 years.
According to CIES football observatory, the Birmingham outfit narrowly scrape into the top half of the league.
Southampton, Arsenal and Leeds United are the three youngest sides while Chelsea, Fulham and West Ham find themselves at the other end of the table.
Can be younger
It’s good to see a number of Villa players close to the age where they should be peaking.
That means that the next two seasons are pivotal in taking this club to the next level.
Villa have proven that they mean business in the transfer window as they have spent big money on big name players they previously would not have thought of signing.
However, this does mean that they now need to prioritise bringing in players that are in their early 20s.
Whether or not Steven Gerrard stays for this rebuild remains to be seen, but thus far, he does have the backing of the Villa board.
Hopefully, for Villa, things change after the international break and they go on a serious run of winning games and going further away from the relegation zone.
