Aston Villa don’t confirm whether they pay sub-contractors minimum wage – BBC

Aston Villa have refused to comment on whether they pay sub-contractors at the club the minimum living wage, according to BBC Sport.

The cost of living crisis in the UK has heightened the scrutiny on Premier League clubs to ensure all of their staff are adequately paid for the work they do either throughout each week or on matchdays.

Villa were one of three Premier League clubs, along with Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, who did not confirm if they paid sub-contractors that minimum wage when asked by the BBC.

They did confirm that they pay all of their directly-employed staff rightly as did the rest of the 20 Premier League clubs with more than half either known or claiming to pay absolutely everyone adequately.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Southampton admitted to not paying sub-contractors the same rate as their own employees while Tottenham and Bournemouth were also unable to confirm for various reasons.

Poor

If Aston Villa was a club on the brink of going bust, then you might have a leg to stand on in not being able to pay everybody as much as they should be but that is not the case.

The Villans play in the Premier League and have millions upon millions coming into the club each month that should be ensuring that every single person gets their due diligence.

Matchday staff are not hard to pay at all as they are only asking to be given the right wage for the hours they work which is much lower than anybody who is at the club more permanently.

Crippling debt is not on the horizon for Aston Villa unless they decide to spend £500million in January so they have to get their heads out of their backsides and start giving everybody who works hard for the club what they deserve.
