Lucas Digne shares Twitter reaction after Aston Villa win v Southampton
Lucas Digne has shared his reaction on Twitter after Aston Villa earned a “big victory” against Southampton on Friday (16 September) at Villa Park.
The Villans finally returned to winning ways after four matches without a win with a scrappy 1-0 victory against the Saints at Villa Park.
Jacob Ramsey scored the only goal of the game in the first half as Villa picked up their second victory of the season.
Digne wrote on Twitter: Clean sheet. Three points. Villa Park under the light.”
Relief
It was a scrappy win for Villa, but it was a “big victory” for them, as Steven Gerrard states it after the game.
The Villa boss received strong criticisms recently after a poor start, and they can now relax a bit after picking up crucial three points.
The Villans needs to get some wins away from home. They have lost against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Arsenal away from Villa Park, and that stat needs to change.
Villa Park needs to be their fortress this season, and the 1-1 draw against Manchester City (3 September) showed that they can well capable of competing against any side at their home ground.

They now have a long break. This is a good opportunity for Steven Gerrard to work with players in training who are not selected for their national teams.
There was an acute shortage of quality from either side, but Villa players did all the running and they got their reward through Ramsey.
It was a dreadful game and certainly lacked entertainment. But Gerrard won’t mind as long as they keep collecting precious points and move up the table.
In other Aston Villa news, for England’s Under-21 squad, Ramsey has been called up once again but another young Lion has missed out.
