Douglas Luiz could triple wages by leaving Aston Villa – Ashley Preece
Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz could triple his wages by leaving the club, according to Ashley Preece.
The Brazilian midfielder only has nine months remaining on his current deal at Villa Park and was subject of three deadline day bids from Arsenal worth over £20million.
Luiz is free to speak to other clubs in January with the prospect of moving away for nothing next summer, although the Villans will be hoping to extend his stay with the club.

Writing in his latest piece for the Birmingham Mail, Preece shared what could happen to the Brazilian in the very near future in his career.
“There’s now just nine months remaining on his contract, meaning the South American is free to speak with other clubs in January ahead of moving on for free next summer where his salary will no doubt double or even triple,” he wrote.
“Douglas, although perhaps a little disappointed not moving to the Emirates last week, holds all of the power now with regards to his future. Villa, meanwhile, will be hoping to tie the ex-City man down to a new, long-term contract.”

Mind made up?
It is not looking good for Villa on this one.
Luiz is staying until the end of the season, but hope is quickly dropping that he will sign a new contract and extend that stay for many more years at Villa Park.
Steven Gerrard will be starting to slowly accept that fact, but he will just hope that the South American keeps his head down and helps to turn around this poor start.
Anything can happen in football though, and it can never be ruled out that he does sign on the dotted line and extends his stay in the Midlands.
If he doesn’t and he does get triple his money, Villa need to move quickly to bring in a new face over the summer and it has to be a big name.
Could work be brought forward to bring someone in January? It would give them time to settle in and explode next season rather than being thrown into the deep end immediately.
All eyes are on the midfield.
In other Aston Villa news, manager Steven Gerrard is very keen to bring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to the club.
