Paul Merson predicts scoreline in Aston Villa v Leicester

Paul Merson has predicted Aston Villa and Leicester to share the spoils in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Villans and Foxes are both in dire need of the three points but Merson does not see either achieving that on the day.

He predicts a goal-scoring encounter but a result that sees neither team picking up maximum points.

In his Sportskeeda column, Merson wrote, “Aston Villa got a great result against Manchester City last weekend, but that was a game where they didn’t have much to lose. Against Leicester City, though, it’s a different story as they are currently rock bottom.

“Despite their issues, Leicester have managed to find the back of the net freely, so I expect goals in this one and think it’ll end all square.

“Prediction: Leicester City 2-2 Aston Villa.”

Need a win

Aston Villa have not started the season strongly so a win against the bottom side, would do them a world of wonder.

Steven Gerrard has plenty of pressure on his back. And three points against Brendan Rodgers would do him a world of good in terms of keeping his job.

Despite spending millions of pounds Villa have not really lived up to their expectations this season.

They have struggled to keep clean sheets and I’ve also not been prolific in front of goal.

Something certainly needs to change and the attacking players definitely need to click against Rodgers’ side that have been shipping in goals left, right and Center this term.

If they are to avoid a relegation battle, these are the kind of games that they should be winning without any hassle and must take advantage of Leicester’s frailing form.

In other Aston Villa news, manager Steven Gerrard is very keen to bring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to the club.
