Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause nears Watford loan move with terms agreed – report
Kortney Hause is close to a temporary move away from Aston Villa as terms have been agreed with Watford, according to The Athletic.
The 27-year-old has been rarely used by Steven Gerrard since he arrived in the Midlands last season and is yet to make an appearance this campaign either.
Diego Carlos’ summer arrival has dented Hause’s hopes of a senior breakthrough and even with the Brazilian injured, the manager now wants to find a new recruit to replace the new recruit.

But as of Monday (22 August), the Hornets have come to an agreement with Aston Villa over a season-long loan where he would be playing Championship football.
He is set to undergo a medical at Vicarage Road fairly soon and the announcement could come in time for Hause to feature for Rob Edwards’ side at the weekend against Queens Park Rangers.
Overdue
It has been relatively obvious for some time that Hause’s time at Villa Park was nearing the end with Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa developing a fruitful partnership towards the back end of the 2021-22 campaign.
Carlos’ arrival has added another blockade to first-team football as has former Arsenal youngster Calum Chambers who has become the Villans’ third centre-half thanks to the injury of the Brazilian.

A season away at Watford, in a slightly less-challenging division, should do the 27-year-old the world of good and potentially put him in the shop window for Villa to sell next summer.
Even if he helps the Hornets to win promotion back to the big time, he is unlikely to do enough to warrant a place in Villa’s side unless a monumental collapse were to happen this season.
Hause is still a player who is more than capable of doing a job at Aston Villa but Gerrard needs more than just that and he has fallen by the wayside as a result.
In other Aston Villa news, the first goal that Crystal Palace put beyond Emiliano Martinez on Saturday will give Gerrard nightmares.
