View: Boubacar Kamara performance v Everton should have Aston Villa fans excited

Boubacar Kamara’s Villa Park debut should have Aston Villa fans excited after the 22-year-old put in an excellent display in their 2-1 win over Everton.

The summer arrival started in the deepest lying midfield position and demonstrated his ability to break up play and start attacks for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Furthermore, Kamara also displayed that he is capable of driving forward with the ball and remaining calm and composed under pressure.

Kamara’s defensive ability was the most impressive part of his Villa Park debut against the Toffees.

As per Wyscout, Kamara won six out of seven of his defensive duels and had 100% success when it came to aerial duels.

The image below displays an example of Kamara breaking up play and forcing the Everton player backwards after latching onto a loose ball.

Furthermore, Kamara displayed that he is able to drive with the ball from deeper areas to get Villa further up the pitch and start attacks.

His presence at the base of Villa’s midfield diamond also gives the likes of John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey more licence to get forward and be attacking outlets for Gerrard’s side.

Finally, the defensive midfielder also demonstrated that he is capable of starting attacks with smart and incisive passing.

This could be a huge plus for Gerrard, with his Villa side sometimes laboured and slow in possession and not fast enough in utilising space that may open up.

In the images below, the young Frenchman demonstrates his ability to break up play and make a smart pass forward in one touch.

It’s still early days for Kamara in a Villa shirt, but his ability to break up play and start fast attacks certainly looks promising for the Villans going forward.

If he can continue to develop and grow in confidence, he could be a vital part of any success that Villa have this season.
