Confirmed: Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos ruptures Achilles tendon
By Sean Clifford.
Aston Villa have confirmed that defender Diego Carlos has ruptured his Achilles Tendon in the 2-1 victory over Everton at the weekend on their official club website.
The 29-year-old is scheduled to have surgery before beginning his rehabilitation, which signifies that he will be on the sidelines for a considerable period of time.
Aston Villa brought in Carlos from Sevilla this summer, with the centre-back joining on a deal worth a reported £26 million, according to Sky Sports.

Huge blow for Aston Villa
Steven Gerrard would’ve been delighted to see his side record a first victory of the season on Saturday against Everton, though news of Carlos’ injury will leave a slightly bitter taste in the mouth.
Brought in to be a key contributor to the backline, he has started in both Premier League matches for Aston Villa against Bournemouth and Everton completing the full 90 minutes.
In his absence, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Callum Chambers, and Kortney Hause are the available options in central defence at Gerrard’s disposal.
Though all capable of deputizing at the back for the Villians, there is an argument to say bringing in some positional cover could be a wise move by the club before the end of the transfer window.
Sustaining injuries in the Premier League is common due to its ferocious intensity, which is why it is important to be well stocked in each position in case the worst comes to worst.
Above all, however, hopefully, Carlos can make a speedy recovery and begin building his way back to first-team readiness as soon as possible.
