Paul Merson backs Aston Villa to beat Everton in Premier League showdown
Aston Villa have been tipped to bounce back from their shock defeat at Bournemouth and defeat Everton by Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.
The Villans will be looking for a more positive result against the Toffees after falling to a disappointing 2-0 loss at the Vitality Stadium.
However, Merson has predicted that the club will bounce back from the defeat and beat Frank Lampard’s men at Villa Park on 13 August. [Sportskeeda]

Merson said: “Villa have just lost to Bournemouth, and Steven Gerrard would’ve gotten into his team after the game.
“They were very poor against Bournemouth.
“You fall behind in the first three minutes and all of a sudden, you’re up against a newly-promoted team with plenty of air in their lungs.
“Villa’s home advantage gives them an edge this weekend so I am going for: Aston Villa 2-0 Everton.”
Villa v Everton
This should be a great game, with both clubs in need of a win to really kickstart their seasons.
Frank Lampard will be taking on Steven Gerrard in the dugouts with the two legendary Premier League midfielders going head to head.
It will be interesting to see if Tyrone Mings returns to the team after being dropped from the starting line-up against Bournemouth on the opening weekend.

Mings was recently stripped of the captaincy and calls have been made for him to be re-integrated into the team.
He has had a tough year but he is still very important to Villa and brings stability to their defence.
We will see if Gerrard brings his former captain back into the starting line-up and how Villa bounce back against the Toffees on the 13 August.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are trying to clear their debts.
