No training ground bust-up for Tyrone Mings at Aston Villa – The Athletic
Tyrone Mings has not had any kind of bust-up at Aston Villa after losing the club captaincy before the 2022-23 season, according to The Athletic.
The England international was an unused substitute as the Villans suffered defeat away at Bournemouth on the opening day of the Premier League campaign with manager Steven Gerrard not mincing his words.
Having previously stated that Mings would get his chance when he could look him in the eye and prove it, the boss has now said, “When Tyrone is back at his best… he’ll get opportunities.”

The Athletic though have moved to assure supporters that there has been no flashpoint between the two big personalities behind the scenes.
Scottish international John McGinn has taken the armband for the new season but goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore ensured it was not a successful start to his reign.
Bury it
It is hardly a surprise to hear that no physical contest has been seen at Bodymoor because Gerrard could not match the sheer brute force that Mings possesses.
You would like to think that the 29-year-old is also mature enough to not allow anything in training to get to him like that so he could reserve his anger for a match day.

But Villa’s record with and without Mings in the side speaks volumes about his importance on the side and if Gerrard wants to see Aston Villa be successful this season, then he will have to start playing him soon.
Diego Carlos is still adapting to Premier League football and the intensity of it and he could learn a lot more from having Mings next to him rather than Ezri Konsa.
Konsa himself also performs far better when he has the solidity of Mings alongside him at the back and two tame goals wouldn’t have gone in if he was in the side at the Vitality Stadium.
In other Aston Villa news, Richard Keys has slammed Gerrard for his decision, claiming the negativity will spread throughout Bodymoor.
