View: Aston Villa sale of Carney Chukwuemeka is superb business
Aston Villa have sold youngster Carney Chukwuemeka to Chelsea in a deal worth £20million and that is superb business from all involved at Villa Park.
The 18-year-old has only started two matches for Villa in the Premier League and was approaching the end of his current deal at the club.
It has been revealed by talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook (via Twitter, 2 August) that Villa will receive an initial £15million for Chukwuemeka and an £5million in add-ons.
This is simply brilliant work from Villa for a player that doesn’t have an abundance of Premier League experience and was coming to the end of his current deal.
There is no doubting that he will go on to be a special talent, but ultimately, the youngster didn’t want to remain at Villa Park beyond this summer.
There is absolutely no point in keeping a player who will refuse to play or won’t make an impact for the club long-term.

The club will obviously be disappointed to lose a promising young talent, but generating a substantial fee that can be reinvested into Gerrard’s squad will be more beneficial to Villa in the short term.
Furthermore, it had been suggested by Football Insider (18 July), that the 18-year-old was demanding wages of £100,000 a week, which is simply ludicrous.
He clearly has been advised badly during this whole sage and Villa have accepted that his demands are not suitable for the club to run sustainably.
It’s good this remarkable transfer saga has finally come to a close.
In other Aston Villa news, manager Steven Gerrard is very keen to bring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to the club.
