Aston Villa allow Wesley to join Levante on loan – Gregg Evans
Aston Villa have allowed outcast striker Wesley to leave the club on loan to join La Liga 2 side Levante, according to The Athletic’s Gregg Evans.
The 25-year-old had two loan spells during the 2021-22 campaign as he struggled to get a run of games back at Club Brugge before then being sent to Internacional in his native Brazil.
He will now test his metal in Spain where the season-long loan deal could go on to be made permanent if Levante are impressed by what they see from him.
Wesley won’t even get to play against the best sides Spain has to offer with Levante down in the second tier so he would have to rely on a favourable Copa Del Rey draw to try and impress against a big club.
Over
Every single football club has made a shocker of a transfer and this is Aston Villa’s but there doesn’t have to be the usual shame that comes with admitting it.
It was always going to be a gamble signing a striker from the Belgian league because it is such a big step up to the Premier League and he didn’t do terribly in his first season.

It wasn’t the earth-shattering introduction many Villans would have hoped for and he won’t be fondly remembered if he does join Levante at the end of his loan deal.
With Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings now senior strikers to partner with the upcoming youth of Cameron Archer, Steven Gerrard has no need for the 25-year-old anymore.
He wants to make more signings if possible and to do that, he needed to get a player like Wesley off the wage bill and they’ve wasted no time in doing so.
In other Aston Villa news, Villa Park could be the location where this England international finds his swagger again if he makes the move.
