Diego Carlos sends message to Aston Villa fans after debut v Walsall
Diego Carlos has sent a message to Aston Villa fans after making his debut in their 4-0 win against Walsall on Saturday 9 July.
The 29-year-old made a summer switch from Sevilla to Villa Park for a fee believed to be in the region of £27.9million.
The Brazilian appeared happy with his debut and sent a message on Instagram after the match.
“A very special day to remember in a while, new start in a new home, very important result in the first pre-season game, congratulations to all,” said the 29-year-old.
Good start
Carlos will be delighted to get his Aston Villa career up and running after his big-money arrival from Sevilla in the summer.
There is plenty of expectation on the Brazilian to be a real hit at Villa Park and really take Steven Gerrard’s side to the next level in the 2022/23 campaign.
The defender is in the prime of his career and highly rated, with his arrival certainly a statement by the club hierarchy that makes Villa’s intentions very clear.
The Brazilian will be delighted to get his Aston Villa career going, even if it was just against Walsall in a preseason friendly.
Gerrard will be looking for Carlos and Tyrone Mings to form a solid partnership at the heart of his defence to really give Villa a platform to build off of next season.
The Aston Villa boss will have to hit the ground running when the season gets underway with the club hierarchy backing Gerrard after a mixed start in the Villa hot seat.
