View: Liverpool interest in Jude Bellingham could lead to Borussia Dortmund move for Carney Chukwuemeka
Liverpool are set to up their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s England midfielder Jude Bellingham – and that could have a knock-on effect for Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
It was reported on 22 March by The Daily Mail that the German side are keeping tabs on the 18-year-old Villa youngster as Dortmund look to replicate their recent success of bring young English talent to the continent.
A move could well now begin to gather pace with The Mirror [26 June] reporting that Liverpool are growing in confidence when it comes to signing Bellingham.
If Bellingham does potentially move back to England there is every chance that Chukwuemeka will become a more concrete target for Dortmund as they look to replace the England international
It would certainly not be a surprise to see the 18-year-old make the move to Germany and emulate the many English success stories that have emerged from the Bundesliga in recent years.
Chukwuemeka’s contract expires in the summer of 2023, so Villa and Steven Gerrard must make a decision on the youngster’s future in this window.
English youngsters are certainly treated well in the Bundesliga and are given the chance to develop and gain first-team experience.
Bellingham’s decision to move to Dortmund was the smartest move that he will make in his career with the 18-year-old likely to be starting for England in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
A move to the Premier League is only a matter of time for Bellingham.
It would not be a surprise to see Chukwuemeka be another English success story if he made the move to the German side.
