Joleon Lescott predicts winner in Aston Villa clash v Manchester City

Joleon Lescott has backed his former side Manchester City to get the job done against Aston Villa on Sunday [May 22].

The Citizens need to beat Villa on the final day of the Premier League season to seal the title.

Steven Gerrard, a former Liverpool player, could do his ex-employers a favour if he takes points away from them.

However, Lescott does not see that happening.

Speaking to Livescore, he predicted an away win and said, “Villa are capable on their day but it’s hard to see them turning City over. That comeback point at West Ham was huge for the leaders and now I believe they’ll go and finish the job.”

Tough ask

City are going to be at their flying best and stopping them will be extremely different to get anything from them.

Pep Guardiola has drilled this side to become a relentless machine and they will stop at nothing to win.

They could’ve sealed the title against West Ham but Riyad Mahrez’s penalty miss meant that they will now have to beat Villa.

Gerrard’s men have looked good recently and even gave Liverpool a tough fight a few weeks ago.

However, City are arguably a better team than the Reds and the task is going to be a lot harder against them.

We’re expecting miracles on the final day, but the chances of that happening seem to be extremely bleak.

In other Aston Villa news, Steven Gerrard is very keen to bring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to the club.
