Mark Delaney set to leave role as Aston Villa under-23s manager – report
Mark Delaney is reportedly set to leave his role as Aston Villa under-23s manager.
According to the Athletic, he has been informed by the club that this season will be his last at Villa Park.
Delaney has been in charge of them since 2015 but the Birmingham outfit have decided that it’s time for a change of guard.

Right move?
It does make sense to change head coaches at the youth level once every five to seven years.
The game develops and younger coaches have a different take on the game.
Most of them have recently retired and are always looking to get into coaching via few years with the junior sides.
If Villa can get an ex player or a respectable former player who did not play for the club then that would excite the youngsters.
Someone like Steven Gerrard, before he became a first-team manager would excite Villa youngsters even though he never played for the club.

Hopefully, the club make the right decisions as they have in the recent years.
Gerrard could also be consulted and it remains to be seen who he would recommend should he be asked about it.
Delaney was also an ex player but there’s a good chance that his ideas were getting stale at the club.
Someone with fresh ideas will excite players as they’re on the cusp of breaking into the senior team and it will be interesting to see who they decide to bring in.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are set to intensify Philippe Coutinho talks in the coming weeks.
