Aston Villa youngster Finn Azaz open to summer move

Aston Villa starlet Finn Azaz spent the current season on loan at League Two Side Newport County.

He had a terrific campaign and also was named as the league’s Young Player of the Season.

However, now that his loan spell is over, he’s back at Villa Park and his future is up in the air.

Discussing it with South Wales Argus, he said, “I am trying not to think about it too much. I will finish this season and then anything can happen in football so there is no point in speculating.

“I will have a couple of weeks off, then reflect on the season and start thinking about it. I will just be open to where I can go.

“I’ve hardly been at Villa, so I will see what they want me to do. I will just go where I am told.”

Another loan spell?

Azaz has killed it in League Two and he’s clearly proving to be a handful for the players there.

He certainly will benefit from another year in the same division and it’s time Villa actually think about his future.

The 21-year-old has proven that he could be an asset in the coming years so it makes little sense to let him leave permanently.

If they manage to find suitors for him in the Championship, another season out on loan makes a whole lot of sense.

It goes without saying that the level of challenge he’ll be facing there will be completely different and hopefully, it will help make him a better player.

If that doesn’t work out, there’s a good chance he stays at the club and trains with the first team, leaving Steven Gerrard with the decision of when to start naming him on the bench if he feels his progress has been good enough.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are set to intensify Philippe Coutinho talks in the coming weeks.
