Steven Gerrard delighted as Jacob Ramsey pens new Aston Villa contract
Steven Gerrard has shared his delight with Aston Villa starlet Jacob Ramsey after his decision to sign a new contract at Villa Park.
Earlier this week the 20-year-old penned a new deal keeping him at the club until 2027, as per The Athletic.
The midfielder has burst onto the scene this season with seven-goal involvements so far in the Premier League but Gerrard believes he has a lot more to give.

He told Birmingham Live: “He’s been an absolute joy to coach and be around. There is nothing better than seeing someone who wants to commit to what you are doing. It is big news for the club.
“We still think there is room for him to get better. We still think there are levels he can get to. He needs to remain consistent and keep learning and growing. He is one of our own. Someone we have given a pathway to who has grabbed it with both hands and shown he deserves to be a starter in this team.”
Ramsey has been a breath of fresh air at Aston Villa this season. His raw pace and skill have been a joy to watch for the fans as much as it has for Gerrard and signing him to a long-term deal at the club is great news.
It was a huge concern when the forward was linked with a move away from the Midlands – normally a player of his age and quality gets snapped up by the so-called big boys which makes it a monumental achievement to have kept him.
Ramsey is a player for the present and the future of the Lions. This season has seen him establish himself as a mainstay in Gerrard’s starting XI which is more than deserved.
Hopefully, this summer’s rebuild doesn’t have a negative impact on his progression at the club – that would be a huge shame.
Even if he does have to take a back seat, he is a very young player who seems desperate to learn and improve and whatever task he faces in this team will make him stronger.
In other Aston Villa news, Gerrard wants Joe Gomez but the Liverpool player will have to force the move from his end
