Aston Villa ace Ashley Young compares Steven Gerrard to Sir Alex Ferguson
Aston Villa veteran Ashley Young has likened Steven Gerrard to his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former Rangers boss made the move to Villa Park in November taking over from Dean Smith amid the Villans form crisis.
Former England teammate, Young, has insisted he has loved every minute under the new boss whilst giving him a huge compliment in comparing him to one of the most successful managers in Premier League history.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s been brilliant, to be honest since he has come in.
“He is one of them as a player he had that winning mentality. He has that hunger and desire to want to succeed and want to win.
“He has shown that as a manager. The best I’ve worked under, as I still call him, the boss – Sir Alex Ferguson.
“There is traits of Sir Alex in Stevie, you can tell that there are certain similarities there.
“You would love to work with someone who has had the career he has had that has gone into management. You just come into training with a smile on your face wanting to work well, work hard and get the benefits from it.
When asked about the similarities between the pair, he replied: “Always on the training pitch always wanting to better players.”
Massive.
Aston Villa fans would have no complaints if Gerrard reached half the level of Ferguson at Villa Park.
The former Manchester United boss is arguably the best manager of all time which Young knows all too well and comparing his current boss to the Scot is a huge compliment.
The former Liverpool captain can’t let the praise get to his head though – he couldn’t be further away from Ferguson based on the team’s current form.
He had a brilliant start to life in the Midlands but the impact he had has petered out of late.
There is no doubt Gerrard will have one eye on the transfer window ahead of next season. The boss will want to make this squad his own and have a full pre-season with the players before the judgement season comes.
Everyone has given him the benefit of the doubt so far but if things don’t click into place next year, he could find himself under scrutiny.
