Gabriel Agbonlahor: Kalvin Phillips would love to join Aston Villa
Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips would love to join Aston Villa.
The Villans have been linked with the 26-year-old midfielder since the January transfer window.
Agbonlahor believes that Phillips wants to take the step up and sees Villa Park as the ideal destination.
He said on talkSPORT, “I don’t think Kalvin Phillips will do that, being a Leeds fan himself. I don’t think he’ll go to Manchester United.
“I’m hearing that maybe Aston Villa are in for Kalvin Phillips. I think that’ll be a better choice for him.
“Our owners are one of the richest in the Premier League.
“So I’m sure that Kalvin Phillips would love to come from Leeds to Birmingham.”
Manchester United out of the picture?
Leeds and Man United’s rivalry bodes well for Aston Villa in this scenario.
If they’re willing to break their club record and sign Phillips then there seems a deal is there to be done.
Whether or not Phillips wants to move to Villa Park or wait for a Champions League club, remains to be seen.

He’s undoubtedly one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League and walks into Steven Gerrard’s side.
Much like Gerrard, his passing range is impeccable and he can play as a six as well as an eight.
Hopefully, what Agbonlahor says is true and Phillips does indeed fancy a move to Birmingham as he would be the marquee signing Gerrard would want to kick start this revolution.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are set to intensify Philippe Coutinho talks in the coming weeks.
