Jacob Ramsey signs new five-year deal with Aston Villa

Energetic midfielder Jacob Ramsey has today (26 April) signed a new five-year deal with Aston Villa, taking him to the summer of 2027.

The 20-year-old has burst into the fold at Villa Park this season and has become integral to Steven Gerrard’s engine room with six Premier League goals to his name.

His fine form in the Villans’ midfield has been rewarded and by putting pen to paper on this brand spanking new deal, he can fully focus on keeping his march to stardom on track.

“It’s a proud day for me, especially for my family,” Ramsey said. “I’ve been here a long time now since I was six or seven.

“I’ve come through the academy and to sign for another five years at this club makes me over the moon.”

England calling

Gareth Southgate might be blessed with a world of talent in the England setup but Ramsey is making a very strong case to be included himself.

Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings are already involved in the senior setup and are surely nudging the boss to give the 20-year-old a ring for upcoming games.

Aston Villa

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is rapidly approaching in November and Ramsey will be very keen to be on the plane to the Middle East with the England squad.

For Villa though, this is fantastic news as Ramsey has been one of our best players all season long.

We all love a homegrown talent too and the fact that he has been here since he was such a young child endears him even more to the Villa Park faithful.

Gerrard is expected to be busy in the transfer market but there is no need to go hunting a central midfielder when you’ve got this kid in the ranks alongside John McGinn and Douglas Luiz to create one of the Premier League’s best midfield trios.

In other Aston Villa news, Stan Collymore has given a surprising verdict on Philippe Coutinho’s future in the Midlands.
