When Man United could announce Youri Tielemans signing as £35m deal imminent
Manchester United are set to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
The shock news emerged on Monday as advanced talks got underway at Old Trafford out of nowhere.
Villa looked as if their impending signing of Johan Manzambi was going to kickstart their incoming business, but a sale is next up.
That comes after the Red Devils got the green light from both Villa and the Belgian to make a deal happen.
Things have certainly moved quickly and a move is edging closer to being sealed.
It has certainly taken everyone associated with the claret and blue outfit by surprise, with a deal set to be announced by Man United imminently.
Youri Tielemans medical booked at Manchester United
There doesn't appear to be any stopping this deal as it accelerates to being completed.
The 20-time Premier League champions have activated his £35million release clause, leaving the Villans powerless.
It appears that the midfielder is keen on the move and is now preparing for his medical.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Man United have booked a medical for Tielemans this week.
That has been followed by Sacha Tavolieri who added that he is expected in Manchester to undergo tests before completing his move.
Should everything go well, his move to Old Trafford could be announced by the end of the week.
That being said, a deal with Chelsea for Andrey Santos has been seemingly done for days in Manchester, but is yet to be announced.
Tielemans may have to wait if that move follows suit, but we'll have to wait and see.
Why are Aston Villa letting Tielemans go?
Well, they don't really have a choice.
That may be the case, but there is a good reason why a sale makes sense at this stage.
Tielemans will go to Man United for £35million and that will count as full profit after he signed for Villa for free.
They will also save £7.8m-per-year on his reported £150,000-per week wages, equating to £15.6m over the rest of his current contract.
Add to that his fee, Villa will have over £50m extra to work with as they battle against financial regulations.
It is a blow to lose him, but could prove to be the sort of deal that unlocks the transfer market for the Villans.
