When Brian Madjo CAS appeal result could drop at Aston Villa as fan clamour grows

Aston Villa are patiently awaiting the outcome of their Brian Madjo appeal from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The 17-year-old completed a surprise move to Villa Park in January from Metz.

The initial confusion was only enhanced when it was revealed the Villans were paying around £10million for his signature.

That all then made way for frustration when it was discovered that the striker would be unable to feature for any B6 team.

FIFA rejected his registration on account of his move from an overseas club, while being aged under 18.

Villa took an appeal to CAS on 1 July and are still awaiting a result as Madjo continues to thrive in pre-season.

There is plenty of annoyance surrounding the England Under-17 international and his failure to feature in a competitive game.

The decision from FIFA to block the attacker from playing due to Article 19 of their regulations came as a surprise to everyone at Bodymoor Heath.

As it stands, he would be unable to feature until January when he turns 18.

That prompted an appeal to CAS on 1 July as a result is yet to be confirmed.

A verdict for a more clear-cut case can usually take between two and six weeks, with the Villans having waited four at this stage.

That could see the B6 outfit wait until the week of 13 August to hear back, should it fit within that bracket.

There is also a chance that it could take months rather than weeks, something which could see a decision seep into the new season.

That would be seen as a worse-case scenario, especially with how Madjo is performing right now.

There has been plenty of noise surrounding the January signing, but mainly due to all this controversy.

That has quickly changed in recent weeks as he has been able to feature in claret and blue during pre-season.

The number nine has netted three goals in as many friendly outings, with Villa News covering Madjo's brace against Walsall to begin his summer.

He added to that with a poacher's finish against Real Sociedad on Tuesday in yet another top Bescot performance.

That tied in with his pace, physicality and sheer size has made him arguably the talking point of Villa's pre-season.
