What you need to know as Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa welcomes Arsenal move
Aston Villa could soon lose Ezri Konsa to Arsenal.
The Villans have already had a turbulent summer in terms of outgoings.
It can't be described in any other way other than a blow to have lost Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans.
They have been replaced well in double quick time as Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes came in.
It may not be so easy to replace England international Konsa should be the next out the door in B6.
Villa may now face a battle to keep hold of the defender as he makes his feelings known on an Arsenal switch.
How does Ezri Konsa feel about an Arsenal transfer?
The 28-year-old is coming off the back of a useful World Cup campaign with the Three Lions.
He was a regular under Thomas Tuchel as he proved his quality at the back throughout the summer.
That followed on from yet another excellent campaign in claret and blue, in his seventh year with the B6 outfit.
The Englishman could now have his eye on another challenge away from Villa Park.
Sebastien Vidal reported via X on Friday that Konsa has opened the door to Arsenal.
He is said to be interested in Mikel Arteta's project at the Emirates as they eye an alternative to William Saliba after injury.
The defender "doesn't want to go head-to-head with Villa", so may not force a departure this summer.
That leaves the ball firmly in the Gunners' court as Unai Emery's side want nearly £60million for his signature.
How could Aston Villa replace Konsa?
There is no doubt that the centre-back would be a massive loss after seven years at the heart of the Villans.
Despite that, Emery has proven that no one is irreplicable and he's happy to let anyone go for the right price.
Konsa won't be any different and if Arsenal want to pay that £60m, then a sale could well be sanctioned.
Villa have already been linked to alternative options, with Bayern Munich's Min-Jae Kim among them.
He is the latest to be linked with the Villans with deals for other targets like Roger Ibanez and Ousmane Diomande now totally off the table.
The Villans will back themselves to replace Konsa, but will also remain firm in their stance not to sell unless it's for the right price.
