Morgan Rogers has chance to cement name in Aston Villa history with one decision
Morgan Rogers has been consistently linked with a move away from Aston Villa since his arrival in 2024.
Making the move from Middlesbrough that year, the attacking midfielder has continued to shift through the gears and hit new heights under Unai Emery.
As a result, he has been rewarded with consistent spots in the England squad, while at times he has proven to be a talismanic figure for Villa.
With this in mind, the 23-year-old has been seen as an option for clubs at the very top of the Premier League and Europe.
However, the best option for Rogers may just be to stay put at Villa
While this is just the sentimental option, he would be well on his way to becoming an icon in B6.
Morgan Rogers may not get the same love away from Aston Villa
With a wand of a right foot, bags of technical qualities alongside the physical stature to match, Halesowen-born Rogers has developed into a top-flight star.
He has suffered natural dips in form, but he is simply integral to Emery's way of playing, with the final day win against Manchester City being the only match he failed to feature in.
Missing just 135 minutes of football, Rogers racked up 3,285 minutes across the season, with only Ezri Konsa coming close in the Villa squad, with 3,036 to his name.
If he were to move elsewhere, particularly to Premier League champions Arsenal, there is absolutely no guarantee that he gets both the same minutes and the same love from the fans - Ebere Eze's situation at Arsenal paints a similar picture to this.
For the player himself, his best option may just be at Villa Park, where he can continue growing with the club as they look to fight for titles in the coming years.
Rogers and Aston Villa still have levels to climb
Villa are a club on the up, as has been the case since Emery arrived in 2022.
Returning to the Champions League next season, the Villans are back at the elite level, with the hope being that the Europa League win can take them to the next level - making silverware something to aim for each term
At 23, Rogers is someone with years to go for him to continue growing in the middle of this project.
At such a young age, he is already talismanic, while the idea of a player who talks the same as the fans and is from the Midlands himself, going on to have success with the club, is something no supporter can turn down.
Villa do have to stick to their end of the bargain, and ensure that ambition does remain.
But, if it does, there is no reason why Rogers cannot be convinced of a long term future in B6
With one big decision this summer, he could ensure just where he sits in the history books at Villa Park - no pressure, Morgan.
