Ibrahim Mbaye's Aston Villa contract examined: Wages, duration and amortisation

Aston Villa completed the blockbuster signing of Ibrahim Mbaye on deadline day.

Unai Emery was desperate to bring in a winger to add pace and directness to his squad over the summer.

That had appeared to be Rafael Leao, but that seems to have been a total smokescreen on the face of it.

The Villans instead swooped in to sign the Senegal international from Paris Saint-Germain.

There had been links to the 2008-born talent earlier in the summer, but a move never materialised.

It then came out of nowhere and a deal felt as if it was agreed and all wrapped up within days.

After making over 40 appearances for PSG since 2024, he looks ready to come and make a difference in the Premier League.

Villa paid a reported £47million for his signature and tied him down to a five-year contract.

Valuball suggests that he is being paid £80,000-per-week as part of that, equating to a yearly salary of £4.2m.

That represents a sizable salary for his age, but is does suggest a downward trend compared to those who have departed.

How much are Aston Villa paying for Mbaye per year?

The Bodymoor Heath outfit have agreed a sizable contract and it puts them in a positive financial position.

A five-year deals allows them to spread the fee and wage payments over the course of that, known as amortisation.

For the 2026-27 campaign, Villa will reportedly pay the talented gem just £9.7m.

That will increase for the remaining four years of Mbaye's deal, but is said to rise to £11.7m until 2031.

The figure has the chance to increase if he pens new terms between now and the end of his deal, but that is how it all looks for the here and now.
