How Aston Villa feel about Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal as two-word transfer focus revealed

Aston Villa have been strongly linked with signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka in recent days.

Having made just three new signings so far this summer, Unai Emery seems to be prioritising quality over quantity in the market.

Joao Gomes and Johan Manzambi significantly bolster Aston Villa's midfield engine room, whilst Alejandro Garnacho adds something different out wide.

However, Villa are yet to make any new signings in defence, which will be of concern to some supporters.

Emery must ensure his squad has sufficient strength in depth ahead of Premier League and Champions League campaigns this season.

Fabrizio Romano claims via his X account that Aston Villa are now putting their focus on signing a new right-back.

Matteo Ruggeri is expected to be announced as a new Villa player imminently, which sorts out the left-back position.

Romano writes that the Villains hold a "genuine and concrete" interest in signing Wan-Bissaka this summer.

The 28-year-old has also taken a unique step towards trying to push through a West Ham transfer exit before the window shuts.

Why West Ham are 'desperate' to sell Wan-Bissaka

Having been with West Ham since the summer of 2024, Wan-Bissaka underwhelmed in 2025-26.

The ex-Manchester United star played 25 times in the Premier League last term, but started to lose his grip on a starting role towards the end of the season.

And, according to a recent report from The West Ham Way, Wan-Bissaka is claimed to have intentionally missed the Irons' team photoshoot ahead of the new campaign.

Because of that, he's not been pictured wearing their new shirts and West Ham are said to be "desperate" to sell him and two others.

Niclas Fullkrug and Jean-Clair Todibo also skipped the photoshoot, and thus have seemingly sealed their West Ham fates alongside Wan-Bissaka.

So, should Aston Villa firm up their interest with a bid, then the Hammers could be prepared to let him leave on the cheap just to get him off their books.
