How Arsenal can have say as Aston Villa eye 'quality' midfielder transfer
Aston Villa could continue to see their summer transfer window clouded by Arsenal.
The Gunners are coming off the back of a Premier League title win and Champions League final defeat.
Their next steps appear to be some big-money moves this summer, despite being yet to seal any deals.
Morgan Rogers is seen as one of their top targets, despite remaining reluctant to pay the £130million asking price.
The England international could make a move to the Emirates at some point, but remains a B6 favourite for now.
That deal hasn't gone through yet, but an imminent deal in North London could hamper a potential incoming at Villa Park.
Arsenal ready £60m move to scupper Aston Villa
There is yet to be any transfer movement for Unai Emery's side this summer.
That has been a constant source of frustration among supporters at this early stage of the window.
There has been one move that has caught the eye as Italian journalist Luca Cerchione reported on Thursday that Villa have asked Udinese for details about midfielder Arthur Atta.
He has also suggested that Newcastle United are interested as they massively need new midfielders.
That comes after Sandro Tonali left for Tottenham and now Bruno Guimaraes could be set to join Arsenal.
David Ornstein reported on Wednesday that the Gunners are willing to pay £60million for the Brazil international, who wants to leave Newcastle.
Should that move go through at the Emirates, it will likely see the Magpies step up efforts to land Atta, much to the detriment of the Villans.
Who is Aston Villa target Arthur Atta?
There is a need for midfield reinforcement in B6 after Amadou Onana's injury blow.
The Belgian will be missing for between six and 12 months, so an alternative is necessary.
Atta could have proven to be the perfect option after an excellent debut campaign at Udinese.
Former Napoli star Gokhan Inler now works as technical director for the Serie A side and loves what the midfielder brings.
Speaking last summer, he said: "I'm really happy to have a talented player who's come to Udinese to build himself a great career.
"I'm here to help him and Serie A is a great opportunity for him to show his quality. I'm proud to have him here with us."
It is clear that he is highly rated and after contributing to nine goals in all competitions last season, that isn't a surprise.
Atta thrives with the ball at his feet and marks a threat going forward, which can be at a detriment to his defensive ability.
There is no doubt that at 23, he's one for the future and could make a difference in B6.
The only problem is that Newcastle may get themselves to the front of the queue if Guimaraes does move to Arsenal this summer.
