Aston Villa are holding firm amid rising interest in Morgan Rogers during the transfer window.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with an interest in the England international, who is currently representing his country at the World Cup.

Chelsea are also thought to have long-standing interest in the 23-year-old, who has become one of the hottest properties in world football.

Villa are reported to have slapped a £130million price tag on Rogers to deter potential suitors.

Moreover, they are said to be citing Manchester City's £116m signing of Elliot Anderson as a guide for their Rogers valuation.

But former Aston Villa favourite Gabby Agbonlahor cited another ongoing deal as proof that Rogers is worth even more than they are asking for.

With the World Cup well into the knockout stages, transfer business is starting to crank up a little bit in the Premier League.

Away from Villa Park, Tottenham are said to have agreed an £85million deal with West Ham to sign 21-year-old midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Agbonlahor sparked a debate on talkSPORT's breakfast show with co-host Andy Goldstein and fellow presenter Laura Kirk-Francis on Wednesday.

He claimed that the fee Tottenham are paying for Fernandes means Rogers should actually be worth £150m.

Agbonlahor said: "If Mateus Fernandes is worth £85million, Morgan Rogers is worth more than £130million."

Goldstein, a Manchester United supporter, then congratulated the Red Devils on pulling out of the race to sign Fernandes, with Agbonlahor replying: "That's the market. If he's worth £85million, Rogers is worth £150million."

A fired-up Goldstein fired back: "But he's not worth that! He's not, he's not worth £150million. That's not the yardstick."

Kirk-Francis was then brought into the conversation, and she said: "I think £85million (for Fernandes) is insane. Absolutely insane.

"But it is where we are in the market at the moment. But £150million for Morgan Rogers? That's ridiculous. £130million is already too much."

Who have Aston Villa been linked to this summer?

With Villa back in the Champions League next season, Unai Emery will be keen to make more additions to his squad.

Goalkeeper is one area that keeps cropping up, with Villa linked to the likes of Zion Suzuki, Guillaume Restes, and Viktor Johansson, as they earmark a long-term replacement for Emi Martinez.

Attacking reinforcements are seemingly also on the agenda, and West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen is thought to be on Villa's shortlist of targets.

Bournemouth forward Marcus Tavernier, and Tottenham's attacking midfielder Lucas Bergvall have also been linked with a switch to Villa Park.
