Evann Guessand takes step closer to Aston Villa exit - here's what's next
Aston Villa look increasingly likely to wave goodbye to Evann Guessand.
The Ivory Coast international recently returned to B6 after a loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.
There was hope that he could come back in under Unai Emery and show desire to earn himself a spot in the squad.
He has featured semi-regularly in pre-season, but has seriously failed to prove himself.
That has got supporters' backs up as they have aimed massive criticism towards the 25-year-old.
Guessand now appears to be on his way out as he takes a step closer to sealing a move elsewhere.
When could Evann Guessand join Crystal Palace?
There is no love lost for the Ivorian at Villa Park after such a frustrating spell.
He has never truly shown the desire or work rate to get the B6 faithful in his corner.
It seems that he was immediately able to do that at Selhurst Park as supporters quickly grew to love the loanee.
Palace decided not to sign the attacker permanently at the end of his temporary deal, but now want him back.
It now looks likely that a deal will go through imminently as transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri reported on Wednesday that Guessand has already completed his medical.
He is now expected to sign his contract with the Eagles on Wednesday morning ahead of a return to the capital.
That could see a deal be announced within hours or potentially slightly later in the week.
Who else was interested in Aston Villa flop Guessand?
There has been a desire to move the forward on from a large majority of the fan base in B6.
Fears emerged when Palace didn't sign him permanently, but it seems that a deal has always been on the cards, whether it was at Selhurst Park or not.
The above report suggests that Porto and Bayer Leverkusen were also interested in his signature.
It appears that the London club have won the race as Guessand prepares for a return.
A deal seems to benefit all parties right now, but it will all depend what happens come the end of the season.
