Aston Villa are one of the teams interested in signing Manchester United flop Joshua Zirkzee, according to CaughtOffside.

The online source reported [23 November] that the 23-year-old is attracting a lot of attention from European clubs as he continues to struggle at Old Trafford.

It is understood that Ruben Amorim has already begun steps to find the player's next destination, and while he is unlikely to want to move to another Premier League team, Unai Emery's side are interested.

The Villans face competition from Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Aston Villa to sign Joshua Zirkzee?

There certainly seems to be an imbalance in the Villa squad this season, whether that be down to the number of injuries or exhaustion from Champions League fixtures.

Emery has already been without Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Matty Cash, Amadou Onana and Jacob Ramsey at different points in the season, and they cannot afford any more injury setbacks.

While Emery's side have been impressive on the European stage, they have fallen to ninth in the Premier League table and goal difference has emerged as a niggling concern this term.

Ollie Watkins already has five league goals to his name, with Jhon Duran boasting four and Morgan Rogers three, but it feels that Villa are lacking a serious goal threat at times.

It remains to be seen if Zirkzee is the answer to the problems, however. He has only scored one goal in 17 appearances since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer.

The Dutchman was an exciting attacking force during his two seasons with Bologna in Serie A, notching 14 goals and nine assists in 58 games and helping them to Champions League qualification.

But those same performances have not transitioned over to the Premier League so it could be quite the gamble to bring the striker to Villa Park.
