Aston Villa seem to have set their sights on a deadline-busting deal for Amad Diallo.

Unai Emery has been making a number of late additions to his Villa squad this week.

Nicolas Jackson has arrived to replace Ollie Watkins, whilst Leon Goretzka could be the Youri Tielemans replacement plan.

The Villains boss appears to have further additions on his mind before Tuesday's 1 September deadline too.

And now, he looks to have turned his attention to the capture of versatile Man United midfielder, Diallo.

What is Amad Diallo weighing up as Aston Villa move made?

Ivorian news outlet 225 Foot claims that Aston Villa have launched an official offer to Man United for Diallo.

It's claimed that Villa are indeed still looking to bolster their forward line further before the window shuts.

However, the report states that the decision now lies with the 24-year-old Ivorian international on whether he makes the move or not.

The report suggests that he could stay and fight for his place in Michael Carrick's team, or he may see this as a good chance for a fresh start.

But what is Diallo's contract status at Old Trafford, and does it work for or against Villa?

Why Man United hold the cards with Diallo

Having joined Man United from Atalanta in January 2021, Diallo has since gone on to make 97 competitive appearances for the Red Devils.

Now 24 and moving towards the prime of his career, if he's not guaranteed a starting role at Old Trafford, then seeking pastures new may well be his best option.

United clearly think highly of him, however, as they proved in January last year.

That's when they inked Diallo to a new long-term extension until 2030, meaning there's no massive rush on their end to sell him.

Because of that, Villa may need to put their emphasis on selling the Villa Park project to Diallo in the hopes he may force a move out of Manchester.
