Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Vasco de Gama over a potential loan deal this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Lyall Thomas has reported (26 June) that the Brazilian could be set to return to his former club on a temporary deal.

Vasco de Gama are said to be in "advanced talks" with the Villans about a loan deal for the 32-year-old this summer.

Philippe Coutinho set to leave Aston Villa on loan

After signing from Barcelona, it is safe to say that things haven't worked out which saw him move on loan to Qatar last campaign.

His initial spell at Villa Park allowed him to shine and show his class before Steven Gerrard opted to bring him in on a permanent deal.

Since then nothing has really gone right with him scoring just one goal and failing to impress due to injury under Unai Emery.

He has been heavily linked away in recent weeks after his loan spell with Al-Duhail expired and he returned to the Premier League.

It is clear that he isn't going to play for Villa again, especially given how many players they have in attacking areas.

With Samuel Iling-Junior coming in, the Villans now have a plethora of options who can play in the same positions as Coutinho.

A return back to Vasco de Gama certainly makes sense from his perspective but a loan again may not benefit Villa too much.

They may be still stuck paying his hefty wages while a permanent move away could ease those issues that may arise in talks over a move this summer.
