Arsenal informed of likely Morgan Rogers fee, it'd be too good for Aston Villa to turn down
Arsenal may have to table a record-breaking fee to tempt Aston Villa to sell Morgan Rogers, according to a former scout.
The England international is currently looking ahead to the start of the World Cup in North America.
There is plenty of discourse surrounding who will start between the Villa man and Jude Bellingham for the Three Lions.
That has somewhat distracted any transfer discussion after links away from B6 became rife.
Interest is only likely to grow bigger as the summer tournament goes on, with Arsenal already firmly in the hunt for his signature.
The Villans could remain firm against selling Rogers, but a record fee may be enough for them to reluctantly green light a transfer.
Morgan Rogers could cost Arsenal more than Declan Rice did
Mikel Arteta's side haven't been shy about splashing the cost to get to where they are now.
The Gunners are now Premier League champions and are only likely to spend further to cement their place at the top of the tree.
Their current transfer record is the £105million they spent on West Ham captain Declan Rice in 2023.
That was once the top Premier League fee, but was eclipsed by Liverpool's £125m move for Alexander Isak in the most recent summer window.
Should Arsenal look to add Rogers to their ranks in the coming weeks, former Villa scout believes the B6 outfit will demand more than the Anfield club paid for the Sweden international.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: "It will take Arsenal more money to get Morgan Rogers than it did to get Declan Rice.
"He's going to cost anyone in excess of £100m.
"If he went it would break Isak's transfer record to Liverpool, without a shadow of a doubt. It's the only way I can see him going, if the fee is so big that no club could turn it down."
Aston Villa have shown willingness to accept a Premier League record transfer fee
There is plenty of discourse surrounding the 23-year-old as he looks ahead to his first World Cup.
After a positive campaign at Villa Park and a Europa League trophy in his cabinet, interest was always going to be there.
Unai Emery and Co. won't want to sell, but a Premier League record sale could change things.
It was a similar story back in the summer of 2021 when Jack Grealish was attracting similar levels of interest.
He ultimately joined Manchester City for a then league record fee as a release clause was entered into his contract to protect all parties.
Although a similar inclusion doesn't exist for Rogers, it is proof that Villa are likely to accept an offer if it is too good to turn down.
If it lands beyond the £125m that Liverpool spent on Isak, it could prove to be transformational for the Villans, as frustrating as it would be.
