Aston Villa to ramp up Morgan Rogers price after new Elliot Anderson reveal
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers is attracting interest across England after another sensational campaign.
The attacking midfielder has continued to shift through the gears since his 2024 move from Middlesbrough.
Scoring 13 times and registering 11 assists across all competitions this term, the 23-year-old has proven to be a talismanic figure at times.
As a result, interest is only natural, with Premier League champions Arsenal tracking the England international.
However, Villa may have different ideas regarding the previously mentioned £80million fee, after the latest reveal regarding Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
A move for Rogers may be deemed best for all parties this summer, though the Villans must ensure they extract all they can from it, should it materialise.
Elliot Anderson transfer fee should send Aston Villa back to the drawing board
Alongside Rogers, Nottingham Forest man Anderson is now a regular for England.
After making the switch from Newcastle in 2024, the midfielder has continued to impress in the top flight and has made a seamless transition to international football last September.
Following a fine campaign at the City Ground, Manchester City are interested in securing Anderson's signature, with David Ornstein reporting a bid of £106m, with add-ons taking the total above £120m.
Manchester United are also said to be interested, though it is doubtful that they can compete on the same financial level.
A magnificently talented player, Anderson deserves all the praise he has received as of late, while his spot in the England squad is more than warranted.
However, a fee so high will have Villa rethinking their own valuation of Rogers.
As has been the case for many years, homegrown English players come at a premium price, and for a difference maker with the abilities of Rogers, the B6 outfit will be wondering whether they can extract even more out of a potential buyer this summer.
The most popular solution at Villa Park would be to keep hold of him, but if he were to leave, the mooted Anderson fee could just provide a bit more room for some negotiation on Villa's side.
Is a Morgan Rogers departure best for all parties?
As disappointing as it is, it unfortunately has to be acknowledged that some sides in the division can operate as talent hoovers.
By contrast, the likes of Villa and Forest have to tread carefully around the financial regulations - showcased with the coming battles for both Rogers and Anderson.
As a result, there will naturally be behind-the-scenes conversations about what would happen following a sale.
After a series of underwhelming transfer windows, the Midlanders need to get their recruitment right, especially if they wish to continue competing in the upper echelons of the Premier and Champions League.
With this in mind, the fee that Rogers could command may well be transformative, bringing squad-wide benefits with it.
Since his 2022 arrival, Emery has made use of what is largely the same squad, with the current lot in need of a refresh ahead of the Champions League return.
Of course, the sentiment in any fan means that the ideal situation is for Rogers to stay put and become a legend.
But based on the recent Anderson numbers, a complete transformation could be sparked at Villa Park as a result of what would be a simply seismic figure.
