Aston Villa could have the new Morgan Rogers in their ranks in the shape of Alysson.

The England international was always going to be difficult to replace after his £117million move to Chelsea.

He was a project player for Unai Emery and it's safe to say we saw the best out of the attacker in B6.

The Villans had a busy summer with a view to finding alternative to the star names departing.

It could actually be a January signing who serves as the closest thing to Rogers.

That comes after Alysson drew direct comparisons on his first Champions League start.

What's been said about Alysson vs Viking?

There is plenty of excitement surrounding the Brazilian and just how good he could be in claret and blue.

That was only echoed when he was named in the starting XI for the second time in a week against Viking.

The Norwegian outfit represented an unknown quantity to many, but the winger saw it as a chance to prove himself.

He did exactly that by causing havoc down the right flank to make all the difference at Villa Park.

That prompted Steven Warnock to directly compare Alysson to Rogers live on the BBC's Champions League Match of the Day.

He said: "The response from him tonight was exceptional. He showed a different side to his game and he's so exciting on the ball when he picks the ball up.

"We talk about wingers being direct, I think he's not far off a similar player to Morgan Rogers in terms of the stature of him, he's got that physique, the running ability. He's such a danger, he's so quick.

"This gives Aston Villa a little bit of a different outlet. They've got pace to burn. It was a brilliant display."

It is certainly a positive review, but just how good was Alysson in the Champions League?

The numbers behind Alysson in Aston Villa win vs Viking

There were many excellent performers on the pitch on Wednesday night.

Emi Buendia put in an excellent shift outside of his penalty strike, but it was his Brazilian teammate who caught the eye.

Alysson was electric, particularly in the second half, as he created the most chances on the pitch with three.

He took nine touches in the Viking box and won the spot-kick that put the Villans 2-0 up.

His four successful dribbles certainly caught the eye, but it will be his one recovery and six duels won that will impress Unai Emery.

The 20-year-old is certainly raw, but is clearly getting to grips with what is expected of him in a Villa shirt.

It will now be interesting to see if Alysson can maintain a level of form and become anywhere near as good as Rogers.
