Why Clinton Morrison half-right to blast Boubacar Kamara moment in Aston Villa loss vs Nottingham Forest

Boubacar Kamara didn't cover himself in glory in Aston Villa's 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The 26-year-old midfielder has started all four of Villa's Premier League games so far this season.

After missing the second half of last season through injury, Villa fans have been anxiously awaiting his return to fitness ever since.

The Frenchman put in strong displays against Hull and Club Brugge recently, and looked set to follow that up against Nottingham Forest.

Unfortunately, it wasn't an afternoon to remember for Kamara, as he played a big part in Forest's first goal.

His role in Villa going behind in the game didn't go unnoticed either.

After picking the ball up just outside of the right-side of Villa's penalty area, Alysson did well to powerfully carry the ball away from danger.

Or so he thought he'd done as he laid a pass off to Kamara with his back to the Forest goal.

The Villa number eight then tried a blind flick around his right shoulder, almost as if he didn't want the ball at all.

His pass was picked off by Murillo and it eventually landed at the feet of Liam Delap, who shimmied inside and fired home from outside the box.

Speaking on Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday, Clinton Morrison picked out Kamara as being the main Villa culprit for the goal.

"Villa give the ball away. Kamara tried to play it into Barkley. It's a poor pass to Barkley and then Delap goes past him," he said.

"He's about 20 yards out and he just drills it past (Zion) Suzuki."

So, just how poor was Kamara against Forest, or will his performance be unfairly defined by this error.

Why Kamara mistake took the shine off his Forest display

Given the fact Villa have been beaten by Forest, Kamara's mistake will no doubt receive even more heat from many pundits and fans alike.

He will know he made a mistake there, but the midfielder should also take heart from what was otherwise a very encouraging performance.

Per FotMob, he still completed 84 per cent of pass attempts successfully, created one chance and played seven line-breaking passes.

Kamara also made three tackles, won six of his eight ground duels and won three fouls.

His 10.7 kilometres covered was the most of any Villa player on the pitch, and as was the 2.7km he spent running.

So, the numbers show that this was a moment of madness from Kamara, and not representative of his full 90 minutes on Saturday.
