What Stan Collymore and Ally McCoist said about Brian Madjo's Aston Villa display vs PSG

Stan Collymore and Ally McCoist were every Aston Villa fan after Brian Madjo's performance against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Villans missed out on UEFA Super Cup glory after being beaten 2-1 by PSG, but there were positives to take.

The current Champions League holders took the lead early at the Red Bull Arena after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's opener found it's way past Marco Bizot.

Madjo then levelled it up for Villa, converting a smart left-footed finish into the roof of the net after latching onto a cross from John McGinn.

But the 17-year-old could have had a hat-trick on the night, and that's not negative criticism at him either.

Unai Emery will be happy with how some of his player's fared against arguably the best team in the world right now, none more so than Madjo.

Brian Madjo gets Romelu Lukaku comparison already after PSG display

Madjo broke history by becoming the youngest player to score in the UEFA Super Cup final, surpassing Patrick Kluivert to take the record.

Despite his goal, he missed three big chances, but also set up two more for his teammates.

The teenager had the most shots of any player in the match with six attempts, at shot-on-target success rate of 17 per cent.

The striker had eight touches in PSG's box, and though he completed none of his two dribble attempts, his stats from the game prove that he is a monster in the making.

Stan Collymore had his say on Madjo, sharing his opinion on X, comparing the forward to Romelu Lukaku.

Collymore wrote: "Madjo. A colossus of a man, reminiscent of a Lukaku when he comes towards the ball, holds it, pops it off and spins away.

"Would like to see him pull defenders into a channel and see what he's got 1 v 1. Thoroughbred athletic profile."

But Collymore wasn't the only person to be impressed with the teenager, who fully deserves all the praise headed his way.

What did Ally McCoist say about Madjo?

Aston Villa won their appeal to get Madjo registered for the season ahead, and he looks to be a part of Emery's plans.

While commentating on TNT Sports, Ally McCoist was full of praise for Madjo throughout the game and was spurring him on to score.

At one point in the first half, McCoist said: "The thing that strikes me is his physicality, the size of the man. Is he 6,4", he is?"

Madjo earned a 7.6 FotMob rating for his performance against PSG, the highest score of any Villa player, but his display went beyond statistics.
